Our decision...

We've been married since 2001. Since then Melanie has worked in public housing and Justin started a traditional wooden window making business.  In the last 5 years we have developing and selling window hardware and ancillaries through our website: http://smithrestorationsash.com/.

We decided that rather than waiting until "retirement age" we would "pretire" and travel while we have the opportunity.  There's no way to know what the future will bring and we decided that there is very real risk in "doing the responsible thing" and deferring our dream for another 15 years or so.

As Ronnie Lane used to say...

"It's a short movie..."

Our Rig

Our home is tiny, but our yard is huge!

We are driving a 2005 Mercedes Westfalia.  About 250 of these terrific rigs were imported from Germany for only one year. Westy has seating for 5, sleeps 4, has almost 8' of head room, a 2 burner propane stove, electric fridge, 2500 watt generator, Diesel engine, 22 mpg highway, marine toilet, shower, diesel heater, 3 gallon propane fired hot water tank.  We removed the tv and microwave in exchange for additional storage.

Getting excited!

Melanie and Justin are getting ready to hit the road in Westy

(what could go wrong?)
